The Minnesota State Fair. It hasn't always been something I look so forward to for months prior. We went as a family growing up but not every year and not with such passion. It really wasn't until we went with our friends, the Vosbergs to celebrate their wedding that happened just days before the Fair that we became fanatics. I will never forget that year. Jill and I staring at Ken Barlow's bottom and getting on the news together! I am sure there were many other memories but for some reason that is the one that sticks out. Ha.
And now it is a yearly tradition. We go. And we celebrate their anniversary. And we go with gusto. There is no willy nilly fair going. We go with purpose and plans and knowing that no matter what the year brings, it will be fun.
As we started having kids our traditions have changed. Now, we go in the morning with the Vosbergs and our kids. We get there as early as things are starting to open. Then we leave around 1-2 pm. Take the kids to a sitter and head back for round 2. Adults only!
This has become my favorite thing about the Fair. I love going with the kids and exploring the kid favorite things of the Fair. But it has been even more fun to explore the Fair with a group of friends.
The last couple of years I just haven't gotten enough the first time so we have gone back a second time with the kids and Grandma Linda. Love that we could spend another day there! So much to do and many foods to try, I wish the Fair would adopt a season pass so we could go even more times.

With the two days, there were too many photos to choose from so I am trying out embedding a slide show from Picasa. I have looked at these photos many times. So fun to go back and remember days gone by! Awww, summer. I will have to make sure to look again when the snow starts flying!
Enjoy!
