Heart Overflowing

My heart is overflowing with love and thankfulness today. The sun was shining, I spent the afternoon celebrating my small group friend Mel and her soon to be born baby, and today was Daddy/Daughters day!

It's been 2 and 1/2 years since we started meeting with our church small group. It was love at first sight. Is that weird to say? It was definitely a God orchestrated night when we all met together and decided we would give it a shot. And now, 2 short years later, it feels like we have known each other forever. Life long friends. And while we haven't known each other all our lives, I have no doubt that from here on out we will forever be tied.

Our group has had many ups and downs in the last couple of years. Many trials to rally around each other. So when we have the opportunity to celebrate we will take it. Nothing better than celebrating a new baby and the friend who will become a mommy for the first time. Our small group is not new to celebrating births though. We have had 4 new little ones born since we met. But this time it is different. Kyle and Mel were the newlyweds of the group and now they will be first time parents. So much excitement.

And now today after attending Mel's shower and meeting her friends and family my heart is overflowing. Overflowing with the love that was showered on Mel today. Overflowing with love for my small group girls who were all together today to help with that showering. Overflowing with laughter which is always heard when we get together. Overflowing with so much optimism for the future.

Not to short change the guys because we have a great group of men but I want to focus on the women of the group. We all bring so many different things to the table but we all bring love. We encourage each other. We pray for each other. We can count on each other. I am so thankful we took a leap of faith together. Every one should be so blessed to have a group of women like that in their lives.

And while I was getting my heart filled up by friends, Chad was home with the girls. When I left, football was on the TV, Nora was napping on daddy's lap, and Anna was playing in her room. It would have been easy for Chad to stay home and not get the kids out and about. Instead he packed them up and headed to the corn maze. Watching Chad be a dad makes me so happy. And Anna loves her daddy/daughters day. When I met them at DQ for dinner and I asked Anna how much fun she had, her response was, "Can't talk now, I have to get the corn out of my pants!"

Aww, life is good. And life is full. Like my heart. Overflowing.
