Hidden Gem

It is so fun to check out some hidden gems. We have been to the Children's Museum and Science Museum many times so on this rainy, cold day we decided to go instead to The Works museum.

I have heard of it and wanted to go for a while now. When we got to the address we thought for sure we were in the wrong place. It was a school that now is the Edina Community Center and school district offices. We made our way to the 3rd floor and found the entrance to the museum.

The museum is a hands on engineering experience. It isn't a big place but has just enough to keep you busy for a couple of hours. There were so many fun hands on things to do. We all learned a lot in our time there. Things like pulleys, and robots, and mirrors, and colors!

I was really impressed with the activities they had and how easy it is for the kids to be totally engaged in the different science experiments.

The pulleys were a highlight of the museum. It was fun to see Anna figure out that the one with 8 pulleys is easier to raise than the one pulley. And she thought it was pretty cool that she could lift mommy and daddy!

Another highlight was the room full of foam blocks for building anything you want to. Chad had fun in here too. With some help from the kids in the room, he built this tower that went super high. But even more fun was knocking it down

If you live in the Twin Cities area make sure you check out the Museum Adventure Passes! This makes it so easy to check out these hidden gems.

Do you have hidden gems that you want to share with me in the Twin Cities? I would love to hear about them. And if you don't live in the Twin Cities, do you have hidden gems in your area that I should know about in case I ever travel there?
