Naming rules you ask, what are those? Well, I have some very specific ideas of how to name this child.
- Traditional spellings only.
- Four letters, two syllables.
- We want to name her what we will call her. No nicknames should be able to be made from her name to "shorten" it up. Although with only 4 letters this shouldn't be a huge issue.
- It cannot be a popular name. I have been using that it can't be in the top 100 names for the last say 20-30 years as a guideline.
- We are sensitive to names that start with "c" based on our last name. Don't want the first name to sound too silly matched with our last name.
I think that is all. Any ideas? We will take them as naming was a huge issue between Chad and I with Anna and I am feeling the same vibe this time around. :)

Some of these have been popular, but not sure where they land on the top 100 or in the last 20-30 years. There is a website that lists only four letter girl names where you can see more: http://www.baby-girl-names.org/4.htm
Emma, Bella, Dara, Ella, Erin, Evon, Gina, Hali, Isis, Jena, Jodi, Judy, Juli, Leah (Though I prefer it without the 'h' .. tee hee), Lila, Lily, Lisa, Lori, Luna, Macy, Mara, Maya, Mona, Nina, Noel, Opal, Reba, Rene, Rita, Rosa, Ruby, Tami, Tara, Teri, Toni, Xena, Zeta, Zina, Zoey.
Have fun!
Evie was one of the names we considered!
How about Kara? It goes well with Anna! :)
Ooooh good names suggested! Awesome idea to throw all of your crazy rules out there Tina to get the juices flowing. Katy...you cracked me up!!! :)
Ruby is a fantastic name...we had briefly considered it.
Your list of rules sounds a lot like mine. I drove The Husband INSANE when we were trying to name our kids (especially the last one). I wasn't specific about the number of letters or syllables....but I refused to use an initial more than once. For instance, our first child starts with an N, second child B, and third child A. Therefore, the 4th child could not start with N, B, or A...also no C or K because our last name starts with C.
I could go on, but your head would start to spin.
One last thing....if you go to the Social Security website, they have a year-by-year list of the top 100 baby names for the last 70 years or so.
I never thought of rules - great way to slim down the choices
Cora (I know it begins with a C, but its my 100 year old grandmother's name)
Bria
Mary
Else
Etta
Gena
Iris
Lana
Sara
Tami
Ruby
Lila
Lily
Awwww, a baby! It almost makes me want to have another one. Good luck! Naming is HARD!! I can't wait to hear what she looks like.
Anna has an old-fashioned feel to it... with that in mind I like Nora, Lucy, Lily and Ella.
OK, so my favorite name right now is Finley. But that meets none of your criteria. And to make it worse for YOU it's a Packer name. I like it for a boy or a girl. But in our case it will be a dog someday. :)
Okay, so I've been thinking and looking...there are so many. Here goes my list:
Bree
Eden
Ella
Emma
Esme
Jada
Jena
Kali
Kori
Lily
Maya
Vera
Hope
I'll mail you that book I was telling you about that I used when I was pregnant with Lauren. It gives you great suggestions that go with Anna. I'm not sure if there will be any four letter names but I'm sure there will be. I found tons more names too but I really like Hope since that is what you have a lot of these days! It seems very fitting! Good luck choosing! It's a tough one!
