Good Job on that Cervix

Chad has been a superstar throughout this week long bed rest. The house is cleaner than it has been in ages, he finds time in the morning to make my breakfast and lunch, and gets home and takes care of dinner and homework. I make sure I tell him thank you often as I really do appreciate him making sure our house still runs smoothly! Well, I got the thanks in return yesterday when he said, "Good job on that cervix!" Ha.

That made me laugh but I did appreciate the gratitude as I have been working hard on being on bed rest so that we can carry this baby to full term and have a healthy little girl! And it looks like so far that is happening.

We had a Dr appointment yesterday and she could not have been more pleased. My cervical length as increased by almost double in the last week. What that tells us is that the cerclage placement and bed rest are doing their jobs. Tells me that this last week on bed rest have been totally worth it and gives me the motivation needed to more forward.

Although things are looking good we have a long ways to go yet. We still have 3-4 weeks before we get to a point where a delivery of a baby would be viable. We still have 11 weeks before get as far as I did with Anna. And we still have 16 weeks before we would be considered "full term" at 36 weeks. And that my friends, is my goal and will do what we have to do to get there.

The Dr is cautious and I was told by my home health care nurse that she is probably the most conservative Dr she knows. The only loosening of the restrictions she gave me where that I can sit up in bed to eat and spend time with the family. We go back again in one week to see if things continue to go well. If so, there is a chance those restrictions will be slowly loosened again to maybe allow me to sit up a little bit longer to work from home more easily. But it sounds like the very most in the future would be that I could go to work for a few hours each morning, very part time. We will take it one step at a time and see where we go from here!

In the meantime, I am enjoying my time the best I can. I do a lot of e-mailing, Facebooking, TV watching and message board reading! The days do go by pretty fast, actually. Hoping soon I can crack a book open and get working on my reading list! :)

I know some of you have asked if there is anything you can do to help. Well, my personal assistant, Jill, is taking e-mails from people and has started a calendar with some dates for people to bring meals or just visit! Get in touch with her or let me know.

Thanks too for the name suggestions! LOVE THEM! We got so many great ideas and I think I have a short list in my head. One of these days I will remember to ask Chad to scan in the ultrasound pictures so you can all she what the little princess looks like. Maybe that will help with naming!

Tina, I'm so happy to hear this! You have a rock-star cervix! I know it must be tough to be stuck in bed, but I spent about 12 hours on hospital bedrest in the Trendelenburg position (where your feet are higher than your head) and believe me, it was NOT FUN. So I'm glad you don't have to do that, anyway!

YAY CERVIX! Hang in there...Sounds like you have a fantastic group of people supporting you the whole way. I'll cross my fingers for you that you'll be cleared to sit up, at least!
