Really I don't know much more than I shared last time. It is still up in the air as to when Nora will come home but she is making progress that leads me to believe it will be very soon.
Yesterday, the Dr gave the green light to try oral feedings either by breast or bottle at every feeding. And she is doing great with that. She didn't get every feeding orally yesterday but she was close. We will see how she does today.
Our nurse yesterday was very proactive in moving us towards the going home plan. She gave me a ton of printed out information. She took all the fun stuff out of her crib and also adjusted the mattress so it was flat. She was getting it as close to like it will be at home as she could. She talked to me about the feeding plan at home and what the dietitian will talk to us about before we are discharged. She talked about the signs during feedings that tell us Nora needs to stop and take a breath.
A little overwhelming but all good!
Tomorrow Chad and I will get infant CPR training and then Nora will be tested in her car seat to see how she does with that. That is a big test. If she fails we will be there for a while longer. If she passes then we can cross it off the list and probably talk more seriously with the Dr about exactly when she can come home.
Things at home are close to being ready for her arrival. We had some great friends that cleaned our house and got Nora's room ready, but in the last 4 weeks we haven't been living at home much. We come home from the hospital, dump things and go to bed. And then wake up the next morning ready for a new day. So there is some light picking up to do to make it perfect!
I also received a few bags and bins full of the cutest little girls clothes from some friends. I went through and picked out what I thought would work for the size and seasons. As I looked at that pile on the floor I realized that we just about doubled the amount of clothes in Nora's closet. This girl will be well dressed! It is hard to resist cute girl's clothes, isn't it?
If I was really on the ball I would have some new pictures to share with you all. But I am not on the ball so once again I have an update without pictures. Let me just tell you that she is cute as can be and is growing like a weed. Every day she looks older and more full term!
Stay tuned and I will post an update when we know more! Pray for continued growth and good news! Also prayers for Chad and I as we prepare for what having our family at home and together really means - sleepless nights and joy, oh so much joy!
Some Doritos and a stupid test
