24 Week Milestone

While nobody wants to have a baby at 24 weeks it is a milestone as it is generally considered a "safe" time to have a living, breathing baby. Of course not in all cases but I did breath a little itty bit easier on Monday when we reached 24 weeks. Just so happy to be feeling our little girl moving and kicking inside of me. And being on bed rest, I have some time to concentrate on those movements!

Last week Thursday I went in for a cervical length check and unfortunately my cervix is being naughty (which I prefer to saying it is incompetent). Basically it shortened all the way down to where the stitch was placed. Not good. Although the good news was that it stopped at the stitch. The stitch is doing its job. My Dr was concerned though that if I was having contractions that they would open up that stitch. So she admitted me to the hospital for observation. I was there about 28 hours and no contractions. That was good news. We headed back home and back to strict bed rest.

Today we went in for our next appt and still my cervix is at the stitch. At first I was upset that it hadn't improved but the Dr assured me that she was happy with this result. That the bed rest is keeping it stable and not going beyond the stitch. We will continue to monitor it weekly and make sure that continues.

So, what have I been up to during the last 5 weeks of bed rest? (um, can't believe it has been 5 weeks. In a way it has gone fast, I guess) I have watched some movies and am now in the 5th season of Lost. For you Lost fans out there, I have LOVED it until the beginning of this 5th season. Time travel, seriously??? Hope I can persevere to the end. Otherwise, I have been doing a little work work and spending time on a few social networking sites. :)

Hang in there! You are doing a great job mama! If you're comfortable doing it, will you e-mail me your mailing address? I have something soft and fuzzy that I knit for your little bean.

You made it to 24 weeks! Good for you! Hang in there (or should I say "lay" in there).

If you lose interest in "Lost" and you're in the mood for a laugh, my 2 personal favorites are "Scrubs" and "That 70's Show."

I just found your blog link on keepemcookin.com
I'm looking forward to reading your previous posts!

I am also on strict bed rest and have been for the past 7 weeks since 23 weeks. I too felt a little bit better after 24 weeks and when I hit 30 weeks, I definitely felt good.

LOST is a great series. I am a devoted watcher. Give it a chance. Although the plot can sometimes get confusing the characters make up for it. There is a blog that can shed light on some of the more confusing issues. The husband and wife team have been analyzing episodes since 2005 so you can go back into their archives and read their analyses to help you make sense of what you are watching.
here's the address: http://www.hawaiiup.com/lost/

I am watching Gilmore Girls, which is another series, like Scrubs, that will make you laugh. And I'm sure you know the value of a good laugh.
