I used to so be a night owl - no doubt about it. I inherited that from my mom who continues to be one now. I went to college and benefited from the night owl gene. Even when I was first married it was helpful since that was the only time of the day to spend with my new husband.
Now..... I have a heck of a time staying up past 10 pm. Watch a movie in the evening at home? I can barely stay awake for the first half of it. I miss being a night owl. I loved being able to stay up reading, watching TV or movies, scrapbooking, or just talking and then getting up in the morning and feeling fine and fresh even!
And then we have the opposite of night owl - being a morning person! It is safe to say that I have never really been a morning person. There was like a month long stint a few years ago when I was dedicated to getting up in the morning to exercise. It felt great but I was also going to bed at 9 pm. But when I was honest with myself - getting up at 4:45 am was not for me. And even when my alarm goes off at 6 am I have to push that snooze button many times before getting out of bed.
What does that leave me and why do I feel a need to label myself one or the other? Hmm..

My best time of the day would have to be late morning. I am a late morning (insert animal name here?). Wish there were more late morning hours to go around. Wish I could split up my time between work and home during those hours. Oh I would be so much more productive with my home to do list.
I think it is because there are no "tasks" to be done during the late morning. On a typical day the morning is filled with getting ready for the day tasks. The evenings are filled with dinner and getting ready for bed tasks. Nothing (except for work of course!) is scheduled for the late morning.
Those late mornings only last for a couple of hours - then we head into lunch and afternoon! I say boo to afternoons. That is when I want a snack and a nap. I am usually dragging by those afternoon hours.
So, yes, I feel better now. Thank you. No, I am not a morning person - I am a LATE morning person. Now I just have to find a way to tap into that time and make the most of it.
