Our first exposure to the persistent begging for a pet has begun and to be honest it is driving me crazy. At first it was cute and now it is just annoying. There is no way we are getting a bunny. No way! And I am pretty sure I have told her that oh about a thousand times.
Since just saying no wasn't working, I threw some questions at her about the who, what, where of having a pet bunny. But wouldn't you know it - she has it ALL figured out.
Where would the bunny live?
In a cage in my room.
Who would take care of the bunny?
Me.
Won't the bunny be lonely all alone all day while you are at daycare?
Maybe we could get two bunnies instead of one then.
Bunnies poop a lot - who is going to clean that up?
Ewww (I think I have her...but) - well since Daddy does the litter box he can do that too.
I don't think Daddy would want to do that?
Then we can teach the bunny to use the litter box and he can keep cleaning it.
What will you feed the bunny?
Carrots and lettuce.
Do you have money to buy the bunny food?
We can grow carrots and lettuce in our back yard.
Seriously, not matter what question I had for her she had a smarty remark right back at me. After our little question and answer session she always ends it with- "So, when can we go get my bunny?"
I am sure this won't be the last time we are bombarded with requests for pets but for now she will just have to live with having a cat - no more, no less!

Too cute!!! She cracks me up!
So you're saying you don't want us to encourage the bunny begging? =)
We've got some rabbits around our house eating plants...you are welcome to catch one of those!
You could put her to the test by having her keep Abby's litter box clean for a couple months and then take it up for consideration again. Maybe she just needs a pet chore to cure her of the pet wanting. Then again, Kate loves to feed the cats, so it might backfire.
Yes, I would like to catch some of those wonderful bunnies that are eating our stuff too. Not sure keeping them as pets would be their fate though.
Pet chores are coming soon for sure! :)
Now she wants a ducky to play with in the tub!
So, instead of a bunny you're getting her a baby sister? Good luck on litter box training that one.
