Since my brother graduated from high school I have lived a little vicariously through him at least when it comes to travels. Chad and I have always loved to travel and have gone many places but I was just realizing that many of the places we have gone have been spurred by friends or family members that have moved to those places. There are so many benefits to traveling someplace where you know someone that lives there. You may get a free place to stay or a free inside travel guide!
As I heard the news that my brother got accepted into New York University for his "masters" in tax law, all I could think about was how I finally had a reason to get to New York City! Well, I also was very excited that he got into his #1 choice - Congrats David! It made me reflect on the places I have gone to see him and it puts a smile on my face thinking about all of the places and experiences he has had in the 8 years since high school! (WOW - 8 years already! That does make me feel old!)
Germany 2002- While Chad couldn't come with on this trip, I had a great time in Germany with my mom and dad! It was my first and only (to this point) trip to Europe. David was studying abroad there and met Emma on the same program. They are just about to celebrate the 6th anniversary of when they met and went out for the first time!
San Diego/San Fran 2004 and San Fran 2005 - He moved there from MN to work for a Fischer Investments which is where Emma was working. The whole family went out to San Diego for my cousin, Brian's wedding and then all rode together in a van up the coast to San Fran and spent time with David and Emma. Then the following summer my mom and I went and spent a long weekend again in San Fran! I loved that city!
Then David moved to Wash DC to start his law school program. We didn't get there to visit while he was there but have been there many times and have enjoyed the hospitality of my cousin Angela and her family!
Next David moved to Los Angeles to continue his law school at Loyola. We looking forward to visiting him and Emma there this May where we will get to witness his graduation also!
And now, at the end of the summer, he will take his next cross country trip to spend a year in New York City! And I am excited to get there too. I have always wanted to go and see a Broadway show on Broadway, see the sights, and most importantly - get my face on TV for the Today show!!!
More importantly than the opportunity to visit NY is the fact that I am very proud of my little brother for all that he has accomplished and how hard he has worked to get there. You deserve all the successes you have experienced and will in the future! I love ya!
